Pendle Walking Festival
05/09/2009 - 13/09/2009
Pendle
There will be free guided walks every day to suit walkers of all abilities, ranging from easy canalside walks to hard excursions on open access land.
There are many walks which take in the area's fascinating past, including the Pendle Witches Trail, the Colne Ghosts, Heroes & Villians tour and Beating the Bounds walks, around Barnoldswick and Foulridge's ancient boundaries. The Old tradition has it that the heads of boys were bounced on the boundary stones once, so that they would remember where the boundaries were but these days the walks are great for families!! Other walks which are great for families include a tour of Thornton Hall Farm. There are a number of pub walks and many with nice lunch spots. This year we have the Pendle Way Challenge for the first time - doing the Pendle Way in 5 days - one of them is a day's rest!
There's SO many great walks why not come and join us! There's a Free programme available in June by post, or to download via www.pendle.gov.uk/walking
