The Open returns to the Merseyside coastline -in the heart of ‘England’s golf coast.’ One of Britain’s finest golf clubs - and among the best links courses in the world - Royal Birkdale will host one of sport’s greatest occasions for the ninth time in ’08. The Open was last staged in Merseyside at Royal Liverpool in ’06. With assistance from hundreds of newly trained volunteers for Capital of Culture year, it was widely regarded as one of the most friendly and successful of recent times. Expect another great Open Championship in Southport for ’08.
