Kendal Torchlight Carnival

Annual carnival procession around the streets of the town, floats, bands, horses, historic vehicles, community groups. Free family entertainment attracting crowds of over 30 000. Moves to a Saturday for the first time in 2008. This event will be reformatted as the highlight and finale of a larger all day carnival of community activities, which will start at about 10.00 with street entertainment and build up as the day progresses with a mixture of events in many venues around the town centre. The Kendal riverside walk will provide the easily accessible link between all locations. The committee has now agreed and confirmed the change of day and is beginning to plan for the new format.
