10.30am daily from Town Hall Tourist Information Centre. (Additional tour at 11.30am May-September) Explore Chester's 2000 years of action-packed history on a 90 minute walk and discover a world... Where the 20th Roman Legion, conquerors of Iceni Warrior queen Boadicea built Fortress Deva to repel Welsh Tribes. Where Viking raiders landed in ominous long-ships on Chester's shores. Where Alfred the Great's daughter ruled an Anglo Saxon kingdom. Where Hugh the Wolf - nephew of William the Conqueror - and a blood thirsty Norman battle-lord built a strong hold. Where and when Cromwell's troops and Royalist forces clashed in the Civil War.
