The world’s oldest chess championships, running since 1866, are in Liverpool for the very first time. Over 2,000 players - from grand masters to amateurs -will contest to be the overall British Champion. Further tournaments decide the champions in age groups from under-9 through to senior citizen. Games are broadcast ‘live’ on the internet.
