Get Active
From coast to countryside, England’s Northwest
offers an unrivalled outdoor playground.
The awe-inspiring landscapes around
Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland and Pendle Hill were made for
mountain bikes, whilst Cheshire’s gentle countryside and sleepy
villages are perfect for family cycling on quiet country
lanes.
The soothing Sefton coast boasts a seemingly
endless sea of sand dunes knitted together with pathways and
trails, perfect for exploring on foot. The striking scenery of
England’s Northwest is all the more rewarding discovered under your
own steam.
But there is always a little assistance to be
had; take in the beautiful Cheshire plain on horse back or from the
comfort of a traditional narrow boat, or soar above Lancashire’s
tapestry of market towns in a hot air balloon.
And who could forget the Lake District?
Whether you fancy a quiet lake row or some ice climbing, gorge
scrambling or paragliding, you can do all this and so much more
amongst the most stunning scenery of the Lake District.
The Northwest is also home to England’s Golf
Coast, where you’ll find some of the UK's most challenging and
naturally beautiful golf courses. Stretching from Silloth in the
North down to Liverpool and the Wirral, are some of the best links
courses in England, guaranteed to test even the most accomplished
golfer. The combination of sea, sand and the forces of nature offer
an irresistible challenge.
